Chapter 4: Marriage?

At the Airport

Ivaan waited at the arrivals gate, his eyes scanning the crowd for a familiar face. He had always enjoyed these moments, the anticipation of seeing his grandfather, Dadu, who had been away on a trip. The bond between them was special, a blend of respect, admiration, and a shared sense of humor.

Finally, he spotted him. Dadu, with his dignified bearing and warm smile, waved as he approached.

"Ivaan, my boy!" Dadu greeted, enveloping him in a strong hug. "It's good to see you."

"Welcome back, Dadu," Ivaan replied, smiling broadly. "We've missed you. The house isn't the same without you."

As they walked to the car, Ivaan filled Dadu in on the latest family and business news, sharing updates and amusing anecdotes that made the drive back fly by.

At Malhotra Mansion

The moment they entered the mansion, a sense of homecoming enveloped Dadu. Mrs. Malhotra, Tara, and Ahaan were waiting in the living room, eager to greet him.

"Dadu!" Tara exclaimed, rushing to give him a hug. "We missed you so much!"

Dadu chuckled, patting her back. "I missed you too, Tara. It's good to be home."

Mrs. Malhotra stepped forward, her eyes twinkling. "Welcome back, baba. How was your trip?"

"It was enlightening," Dadu replied, taking a seat. "But there's nothing like being with family."

As they settled in, the family gathered around, sharing stories and laughter. The warmth of their reunion was palpable, each member contributing to the lively atmosphere.

Later that evening, after dinner, the family gathered in the living room. The atmosphere was relaxed, the earlier tension over Ahaan's marriage discussions temporarily set aside.

Mr. Malhotra joined Dadu in his study, a comfortable room lined with bookshelves and family photographs. The two men settled into their favorite chairs, a sense of familiarity and ease between them.

"So, how was your trip, baba?" Mr. Malhotra asked, pouring them both a glass of whisky.

"It was wonderful," Dadu replied, his eyes twinkling with memories. "I got to see some old friends and even attended a beautiful wedding. My friend's grandson got married."

Mr. Malhotra smiled knowingly. "You seem quite taken with this wedding. I take it the young couple was impressive?"

"Very much so," Dadu said, taking a sip of his drink. "It made me think about our Ahaan. He's done so well in business, but it's time he thinks about settling down."

Mr. Malhotra nodded, his expression thoughtful. "I've tried talking to him, but he's so focused on work. Maybe if we approach it differently, he'll be more receptive."

Dadu leaned back in his chair, considering his son's words. "I think we need to remind him of the joys of companionship, not just the responsibilities. He needs to see that having a partner can enhance his life, not hinder it."

Just then, Mrs. Malhotra entered the room, having overheard part of their conversation. "Are you two plotting again?" she teased, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"We're discussing Ahaan," Mr. Malhotra replied, motioning for her to join them. "baba thinks we need to be more persuasive about him getting married."

Mrs. Malhotra sighed, settling into a chair. "It's not easy. Ahaan is so stubborn. But maybe if we all talk to him together, he'll understand that we're only looking out for his happiness."

As they continued to discuss their strategy, the door opened, and Ahaan walked in. The room fell silent for a moment, and the three of them exchanged a look.

"Ahaan, come join us," Dadu said, breaking the silence. "We were just talking about you."

Ahaan raised an eyebrow, sensing the serious tone. He sat down, looking at each of them expectantly. "What's going on?"

Dadu leaned forward, his expression earnest. "Ahaan, I want to share a story with you. During my trip, I attended a wedding. My friend's grandson, who was just as career-focused as you, got married. It was a beautiful ceremony, and they are very happy together."

Ahaan sighed inwardly, recognizing where this conversation was heading. "Dadu, I appreciate your concern, but—"

"Let me finish, Ahaan," Dadu interrupted gently. "Marriage isn't just about settling down. It's about finding a partner who supports you, shares your dreams, and brings joy into your life. Your mother, father, and I all want to see you happy. We're not pressuring you; we just want you to consider the possibility."

Mr. Malhotra nodded. "We understand your dedication to your work, but having someone by your side can make life's journey even more fulfilling."

Mrs. Malhotra reached out, placing a hand on Ahaan's arm. "We love you, Ahaan. We just want what's best for you."

Ahaan looked at his family, seeing the genuine concern and love in their eyes. It was hard to stay annoyed when he knew their intentions were pure. "I understand," he said finally. "I'll think about it. But please, give me some time."

Dadu smiled, patting his grandson's shoulder. "That's all we ask, Ahaan. Just consider it."

At Malhotra Industries

The next day, Ahaan threw himself into work, hoping to find some clarity. Amaira arrived at Malhotra Industries, ready for another productive weekend. She enjoyed working closely with Ivaan and appreciated the opportunity to learn and contribute. As she walked into the office, she was greeted by Ivaan's warm smile.

"Good morning, Amaira. Ready for another busy day?" he asked.

"Absolutely, Ivaan," she replied, feeling a surge of enthusiasm.

They spent the day immersed in the marketing campaign, brainstorming ideas and refining strategies. Amaira's creativity and dedication continued to impress Ivaan, and their professional rapport grew stronger.

In the afternoon, Ahaan decided to check in on the marketing team. He walked into the office, greeted by the sight of Amaira and Ivaan deeply engaged in their work.

"Good afternoon, Amaira, Ivaan," Ahaan greeted, drawing their attention. "How's the campaign coming along?"

Amaira smiled, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. "Good afternoon, Ahaan. We've made significant progress. I'd love to show you what we've been working on."

As she presented their ideas, Ahaan listened intently, nodding in approval. He was impressed by her innovative approach and her ability to articulate her vision clearly.

"These concepts are excellent, Amaira," Ahaan said, genuinely impressed. "Your insights are exactly what we need for this campaign."

"Thank you, Ahaan," Amaira replied, meeting his gaze. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute."

As they discussed the finer points of the project, Ahaan found himself increasingly drawn to Amaira's passion and dedication. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, each exchange deepening his respect for her.

Evening at the Mansion

That evening, the Malhotra family gathered once again for dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed, the earlier tension over Ahaan's marriage discussions temporarily set aside.

"Ivaan, how's the campaign coming along?" Mr. Malhotra asked, looking at his younger grandson.

"It's going really well, Dadu," Ivaan replied. "Amaira has brought some fantastic ideas to the table. She's a great addition to the team."

Ahaan nodded in agreement. "She's incredibly talented and dedicated. We're lucky to have her."

Mrs. Malhotra smiled, noting the admiration in Ahaan's voice. "It sounds like she's making quite an impact."

As the family enjoyed their meal, the conversation shifted to lighter topics, filled with laughter and shared memories. The warmth and love that defined the Malhotra household were evident, creating a comforting end to the day.

Later that night, as Ahaan sat in his study, he reflected on the day's events. The discussions about marriage, Amaira's contributions at work, and his family's unwavering support all swirled in his mind. He felt a sense of gratitude for his family's love and concern, even if their expectations sometimes felt overwhelming.

Deciding to take a step forward, Ahaan picked up his phone and called Amaira.

"Amaira, it's Ahaan," he began, his voice steady. "I wanted to thank you again for your fantastic work on the campaign. And... I was wondering if you need any additional support for the orphanage. I'd love to help out."

Amaira, surprised but pleased, smiled as she replied. "I'd appreciate that, Ahaan. Thank you. The children would love to meet you. Well do you have some ideas?"

Ahaan said  "I was impressed by your dedication to Sukoon Orphanage and your passion for music. I believe there are ways we can support your efforts. For instance, we could organize charity events featuring your performances, with the proceeds going to the orphanage."

Amaira's eyes widened with surprise and gratitude. "That would be amazing, Ahaan. The orphanage relies heavily on donations, and this could make a huge difference."

Ahaan smiled, encouraged by her enthusiasm. "I also wanted to discuss the possibility of creating a scholarship program specifically for the children at Sukoon. Education is crucial, and I believe we can help provide them with more opportunities."

Amaira's expression softened, her eyes glistening with emotion. "You have no idea how much this means to us. The children at Sukoon are so bright and full of potential, but they lack the resources to fully develop their talents."

Ahaan nodded. "Exactly. With a scholarship program, we can ensure they receive a quality education and the chance to pursue their dreams. It's something I feel very strongly about."

Amaira reached out  and said "Thank you, Ahaan. Your support could change so many lives. I don't know how to express my gratitude."

Ahaan's smile widened, and he gently said "You don't need to thank me, Amaira. It's the right thing to do. We're all in this together."

As they made plans, Ahaan felt a sense of anticipation. This collaboration could be the beginning of something meaningful, a new chapter in their lives that neither of them had expected.

With a mix of excitement and hope, Ahaan looked forward to their future interactions, eager to see where this unexpected discovery would lead.

At Sukoon Orphanage

Later that evening, after a long and productive day at Malhotra Industries, Amaira returned to Sukoon Orphanage. The familiar sounds of children's laughter and the sight of their smiling faces always filled her with a deep sense of joy and purpose. As she walked through the courtyard, several children ran up to her, excitedly vying for her attention.

"Didi, will you play with us?" little Vidhi asked, her eyes wide with anticipation.

"Of course, Vidhi," Amaira replied, her face lighting up with a smile. "What game are we playing today?"

"Hide and seek!" the children chorused, their excitement contagious.

Amaira joined in their game, laughing and running with the children, her earlier concerns momentarily forgotten. The simple joy of the children's company was a balm to her soul, and she cherished these moments dearly.

Later That Night

After the children had been tucked into bed, Amaira sat in the cozy kitchen with her grandmother, Pallavi, affectionately known as Nani. The two women shared a deep bond, and Amaira often found comfort in their late-night conversations.

"Nani, I have something important to tell you," Amaira began, stirring her cup of tea.

Pallavi looked up from her knitting, her eyes warm with interest. "What is it, beta?"

Amaira took a deep breath. "Ahaan Malhotra made a proposal today. He wants to help support the orphanage."

Pallavi's eyes widened with surprise and curiosity. "That's wonderful news, Amaira. What exactly did he propose?"

"He suggested organizing charity events where I could perform, with the proceeds going to the orphanage. He also talked about creating a scholarship program for the children here," Amaira explained, her excitement evident.

Pallavi reached out and squeezed Amaira's hand. "That's an incredible opportunity, beta. Ahaan seems like a good man with a generous heart. This could make a significant difference for the orphanage."

"I know, Nani," Amaira said, her eyes shining with hope. "I just can't believe it. It feels like a dream."

Pallavi smiled, her expression filled with pride and affection. "You deserve this, Amaira. You've worked so hard, and your dedication is finally being recognized. I'm so proud of you."

Amaira hugged her grandmother tightly, feeling a wave of gratitude and love. "Thank you, Nani. I couldn't have done any of this without your support and guidance."

As they sat together, discussing the potential impact of Ahaan's proposal, Amaira felt a renewed sense of hope for the future. She knew there would be challenges ahead, but with the support of the Malhotras and her beloved Nani, she felt ready to face them and make a difference in the lives of the children she cared so deeply about.
